As the first officially designated portion of the The Great Trail (formally the Trans Canada Trail), the Caledon Trailway is a popular favourite among many due to; its location, history and length. Stretching from Totthenham to Caledon, it connects many villages to allow for exploration and mid ride snacks! The railway was a section of the Hamilton & Northwestern Railway built in the 1870s and later merged into the Canadian National Railway. Although decommissioned in the 1980s, you are still able to see its history today. Many of the original buildings and infrastructure remain, including the Cheltenham Brickworks.

Fun fact: Our sister store Caledon Hills Cycling was the former general store of Inglewood back in 1882 and later, in 1886, it became the local post office. The CN Rail would pass by and drop off all the mail for the town and it was in-use until the early 21st century. If you do visit, you are still able to see a part of history with the original tin ceilings and pine floors in place.
